A quadrilateral that consists of parallel opposite sides (or edges) is called a parallelogram.
A quadrilateral is a closed geometric figure, which consists of four edges (or sides). In a special case, the both pairs of opposite sides are parallel and the quadrilateral is called a parallelogram due to the parallelism property of the sides.
